The Fallacy of ‘Balanced Literacy’ [blog post from NYTimes.com]
An interesting response to NYC school chief's idea to restore a "balanced literacy" agenda. Really draws into question what is "balanced literacy" and what is "muscular instruction" and are the two mutually exclusive? This piece would be a great launching pad for discussion.
